Descriptions

The focus of the visual arts education at Lapland University of Applied Sciences is on computer art, also known as digital art. As a visual artist, you create visual works and make them available to the public. The computerization has allowed for the blurring of boundaries between digital art and many traditional art forms. As a visual artist, you utilize digitalization as a transformation, a societal phenomenon, a means of engaging with your audience, and as a technique in creating your art. You observe your surroundings and its phenomena as a visual artist and incorporate your observations into your work. You are familiar with the Western tradition of visual arts and explore contemporary art trends as well.
Lapland University of Applied Sciences provides comprehensive expertise in the following areas of computer art for graduating visual artists: digital painting, lens-based digital imaging, 3D and digital sculpture, media art, and animation. Alongside these, you will also have opportunities to experiment and explore in the analog world as part of your education. During your studies, you will have the opportunity to experiment and explore in the analog world, bridging the gap between analog and digital art forms. In the profiling studies, you will further refine your artistic focus, apply and deepen your skills, and utilize augmented and virtual reality as well as artificial intelligence environments. This will allow you to expand your artistic possibilities and engage with new technologies in your artistic practice.
