Objective
The student understands the principles and processes of Competitive Intelligence.
The student understands the most common techniques used in Competitive Intelligence and he/she is able to apply them into real life cases.
The student is aware of tools used in Competitive Intelligence and he/she recognises the role it plays in modern companies.
The student is able to monitor markets and do basic business forecasting.

Teaching methods
The study unit consists of project work and independent study.
The project work is carried out in collaboration with working life partners and includes teamwork, team assignments, and team tutoring.
The independent part includes two material-based exams as well as self- and peer assessment. Exams and project report can be done in Finnish, while the lectures are held in English.
Active participation in contact teaching is required to complete the study unit.

The study unit includes project work. The project assignment is provided by a company or a project.

Level 1
Principles, processes and role of Competitive Intelligence:
The student knows the principles and processes of competitive intelligence and he/she is able to apply competitive intelligence techniques and tools into practice.
The student is aware of the role of competitive intelligence in business and he/she is able to do basic market monitoring and forecasting.
Level 2
Principles, processes and role of Competitive Intelligence:
The student has a rising understanding of the principles and processes of competitive intelligence and he/she is able to apply competitive intelligence techniques and tools into practice.
He/she is able to analyse and utilise competitive intelligence techniques and tools into practice. He/she is able to do market monitoring and forecasting and make conclusions based on the information gathered.

The student has a wide understanding of the principles and processes of the competitive intelligence.
He/she is able to evaluate and utilise appropriate competitive intelligence techniques and tools into practice. He/she is able to justify and analyse the results of market monitoring and forecasting.
