Objective

In this study unit student gains knowledge of Finland and characteristics of the Finnish way of life.
The student gets to analyze and compare his/her own society to Finnish society and culture. As a final task student prepares a presentation and short thesis about a topic of his or her interest related to Finnish society, e.g. health care system.

Moodle material, and applicable material (e.g. literature, articles, statistics, pictures), versatile digital material related to course content: Societal, cultural and industrial life of Finland, Finnish history and Finland today, education system, Finnish social and health care system, current issues in technology and innovation in Finland, communication and business culture, cultural heritage of Finland and Lapland region, cross cultural knowledge and own cultural background and society

The study unit Introduction to Finnish Society and Culture includes the student attendance (80%), active participation in classroom activities (feedback and argumentation), Moodle assignment and graded final report + presentation
