Tavoitteet

Having completed the course, the participants i.e. doctoral candidates

· are familiar with the practicalities of academic conference participation and presentation (abstract submission, paper presentation, serving as a chair and/or discussant)
· are able to give and receive academic feedback in a constructive manner
· have made use of the seminar sessions to develop their ongoing doctoral research.

Toteutustavat

Annual research seminar participation (abstract and paper submission; seminar attendance and presentation).

Suoritustavat

The doctoral programme arranges a two-day research seminar every year in late April-early May. The seminars consist of keynote lectures and doctoral candidate presentations.

Doctoral candidates enrolled in this course are expected to participate in the annual doctoral programme research seminar every spring throughout their doctoral studies. Detailed instructions and timetables will be sent to registered participants annually.

Sisältö

The course consists of annual doctoral programme seminars.

Opetusmenetelmät

In the morning 10-12, there will be seminar presentations by doctoral researchers (15-minute presentation + 5-10 minutes of discussion). In the afternoon 13-14.30, there will be a session on how to fund your doctoral research.

If you want to present your paper in the morning session, please send the abstract to tutkijakoulu@ulapland.fi. The deadline for abstracts is April 23.

Completing 5 credits requires presenting your own paper.

The course is targeted to all doctoral candidates enrolled in the Arctic in a Changing World doctoral programme.
