Having completed this study unit
· You know the legal environment of a company.
· You have an overview of the legal regulations in the tourism field and their meaning in tourism business.
· You know the basics of contract and corporate law and their meaning and role in business.
· You know the basics of marketing regulation.
· You are able to retrieve and apply legal information.
· You recognise legal factors and challenges in the travel and tourism business.

Content:
Contract law:
• overview of the Finnish legal system
• basics and principles of contract law: legislation, law of the person, content and meaning of contracts especially in the travel and tourism field
• main principles of compensation for damage
Corporate law:
• regulation of businesses
• company forms and their special features
• establishing a company, changes and closing down a company
Marketing law:
• regulation of marketing (data protection, Consumer Protection Act, improper behaviour, IP rights)
Travel and tourism law:
• overview of the relevant legal regulations applied in the field (for example travel service combinations regulations, basics of safety legislation)
All parts:
• searching and applying judicial knowledge into practice

Basic Skills of Contract and Corporate Law and Basic Understanding of their Role in Business:
You have basic knowledge of both business as well as travel and tourism related legislation and you can explain it by giving examples. You are able to explain the basics of marketing regulation.
You are able to find and use this legal information but cannot fully apply it.
You recognize the main legal factors and challenges in the travel and tourism business and can describe examples of them.
