Objective
Upon successful completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1) identify theories and techniques of oral argumentation
2) analyze strategies for constructing compelling arguments
3) employ appropriate and persuasive speaking techniques
4) organize and execute oral arguments effectively

Content
This course offers students an opportunity to exercise and develop their discussion and debating skills in English. Multi-perspective conversations on selected topics of interest will foster attentive, flowing and effective communication.
Moreover, through preparation and active participation in debate scenarios, students will cultivate critical thinking and logical reasoning while exploring ways to articulate arguments coherently, respectfully and persuasively. The course is based on the principle of learning by doing and encourages active listening and open-mindedness while honing communication skills.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass: Attendance, active participation, completion of required tasks.
Fail: Poor attendance, lack of participation, required tasks not completed.
Qualifications
Upper secondary school or equivalent.
