Tavoitteet
The course aims to examine individuals within the tourism organization, discussing the topics of values, personality, moods, emotions and attitudes. Drawing upon a psychological perspective, it further analyses concepts such as competency, job satisfaction, motivation and performance. The course also aims to explore the role of teamwork, group dynamics and decision-making within a tourism organizational context. Finally, it gives an overview of policies and practical tools for managing human resources and organizational change with particular focus on generational differences in working environment.
After completion of the course the student is able to
- analyze the impact of individual psychological traits, including personality, values, moods, and emotions, on behavior within tourism organizations
- evaluate how job satisfaction, motivation, and performance affect workforce productivity in the tourism industry
- apply theories of group dynamics and teamwork to improve decision-making and collaboration in tourism organizations
- identify and implement human resource management strategies tailored to address generational differences in the workplace
- develop practical approaches for managing organizational change within tourism settings, with a focus on enhancing employee engagement and performance.

Arviointikriteerit, tyydyttävä (1)
Fail (0): The student cannot identify or describe key human capital concepts in tourism. They do not understand the impact of individual traits or factors like job satisfaction and motivation on tourism organizations, nor can they apply teamwork or HR strategies to manage generational or organizational changes.
Sufficient (1): The student identifies some human capital concepts in a limited way. Their understanding of individual traits and their impact is weak, and they struggle to evaluate job satisfaction and motivation. The application of teamwork theories and HR management for generational or organizational change is very basic.
Satisfactory (2): The student identifies some trends in human capital within tourism but lacks detail. They show a basic understanding of individual traits and a minimal analysis of job satisfaction and motivation. Their application of teamwork and HR strategies is narrow.

Good (3): The student identifies relevant human capital trends in tourism. They demonstrate a foundational understanding of individual traits, moderately analyze job satisfaction and motivation, and apply teamwork theories to decision-making. They outline basic HR strategies for generational and organizational change.
Very Good (4): The student identifies key human capital trends comprehensively, showing solid understanding of individual traits and analyzing job satisfaction and motivation in depth. They apply teamwork theories effectively and recognize HR strategies for managing generational and organizational change.

Excellent (5): The student provides a broad, in-depth understanding of human capital trends in tourism. They critically analyze the impact of individual traits, job satisfaction, and motivation on productivity, apply teamwork theories adeptly, and suggest practical HR strategies for generational and organizational change across contexts.
