Tavoitteet
After completion of the course the student is able to:
- recognize central theoretical discussions on tourism experiences
- analyze the production and consumption of tourism experiences
- critically evaluate how the theories and models related to the experience economy can be used to develop commercial tourism experiences
- recognize the organizational characteristics of Christmas as an economic and socio-cultural phenomenon.
Toteutustavat
Teaching profile: FACE-TO-FACE.
Online and on-site teaching: lectures, workshops with commissioners, independent work.
Suoritustavat
Active participation in online sessions, workshop, and the one-week intensive programme involving lectures and group work presentations.
Sisältö
Tourism experience, Animal-based tourism, Meaningful experiences, Destination experiences, Value co-creation, Experience economy, Christmas as an organizational phenomenon, Storytelling, Embodiment in tourism experiences.
Oppimateriaalit
Reading package including peer-reviewed articles will become available at the beginning of the course.

Arviointikriteeri, hyväksytty/hylätty
Fail: Submitted written assignments do not meet the word count, lack depth or engagement with the assigned material, and/or bypass or insufficiently meet the requirements of the assignment. In addition, an assignment is failed if the student has not submitted it by the deadline. Tasks around retrieving information were not completed. The student did not participate in the course's group discussions and/or submitted alternative assignments.
Pass: Written, submitted assignment meets the requirements. It demonstrates an understanding of the course, it's academic discipline, and the student's positioning in it. The assignment also shows that the student recognizes their learning style – strengths and areas for improvement, as well as ways to develop these. A passing grade further expresses that the student was able to complete retrieval tasks satisfactorily. In addition, the student has actively participated in discussions, both online and in person, and has submitted the assignment by the deadline.
