CONTENTS:
This introduction to human rights law covers a wide range of topics from philosophy of human rights to the right to life, privacy, expression, and more. After this course, students will have learned the basics of human rights protection from an international perspective, the key sources of human rights legislation, and the most relevant international legal instruments. The course will be taught as contact teaching.

In addition to the lecture series (2 ECTS), there is also the possibility to take an additional seminar course (3 ECTS) for those students who have completed the lecture series (either this year or prior). The aim of the seminar is to give a well-rounded understanding of the topics covered in the lectures through a written assignment and interactive participation.

TEACHING: Contact teaching, both with the lecture series and the seminar.

TUTOR: Tapio Koivula (LLM), Researcher at the University of Lapland (tapio.koivula@ulapland.fi)

SEMINAR: 25.-26.11. 9-15
NB. Two days have been reserved for the seminar but the length/timing of the seminar depends on the amount of students. In practice, the timing may be reduced; the exact timing will be confirmed prior to the seminar.
