Objective
Having completed this study unit (Objective skills level is A1.1 - A1.2 (CEFR).)
• You develop basic oral and written communication skills and familiarize with the main aspects of Finnish culture.
• You get basic skills in Finnish for simple communication situations in everyday life.
• You can introduce themselves and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details, such as where they live, people they know, and things they have.
• You can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Suomen mestari 1 uudistettu digital study book
For Lapland UAS students the study book is provided. Other students may use the printed book or acquire the license.
Teaching methods
- continuous learning with daily tasks in digital study book / Moodle
- regular live, on campus contact lessons once or twice a week
Exam schedules
The final exam will include: written and oral exam.
Entrance ticket for the final tests is based on tasks completed during the study unit. 80 % of the digital book tasks and assignments in Moodle need to be completed.
Completion alternatives
If the student already has Finnish skills on at least level A1 (CEFR), we recommend attending more advanced level Finnish study units.
