Objective

Upon completing this module, the student should be able to discuss in depth various questions related to the law of international organizations

Execution methods

A) 2/3 ECTS: lectures + lecture test

B) 3/2 ECTS: literature exam. The examination is available as an e-exam in the electrical exam service (called EXAM).

The module is available both in fall and spring term but the ways of organizing the parts may vary (and also the ECTS per each part available; the total ECTS of the module being always 5, though).

The module consists of 2 parts (A & B):

A) 2/3 ECTS: lectures/seminar
B) 3/2 ECTS: (electronic) literature exam

Content

The course will focus on the development and operation of the United Nations and/or other international organizations.

LECTURE TEST: Fri 6.9. 14-15
SECOND LECTURE TEST: determined later

SEMINAR (in person): Fri 27.9. 9-14
The deadline for returning the group work exercise for the seminar is on Mon Sept 23 at 11.30 AM.

Teaching methods

Lecture & Seminar Course: “International Organizations & Legal Instruments”

This 3 ECTS course consists of lectures in person (+ lecture test) and a group work treaty drafting exercise to be presented in a seminar (in person).
The lecturers are Professor Emeritus Matti Niemivuo and Professor of Public International Law Lotta Viikari, who also organize the seminar together.
