After successful completion of the course, participants will be able
1) to find relevant information in French on academic subjects on the internet
2) to apply reading and problem solving strategies to extensive academic texts in French.

Finding and presenting a relevant text. Reading and writing a summary in French.

Sisältö

Participants are required to find a relevant academic text related to their main subject of study (social sciences, education, law, etc.). The text is to be ca. 12 pages long (font size 11). The expected level of the text is B2, which is typical of popular science texts. The text must be approved by the teacher. The participants will read the text at home and write a 2-3 page summary in French. Both the text and the summary will be submitted to the teacher.

Students who are on an exchange or an internship in a French-speaking country may complete this course by writing a 2-3 page summary of a text which they are required to read for their studies/internship. In this case, the text does not have to be presented to the teacher beforehand. Students will submit a copy of the original text along with their summary after their return to the University of Lapland.
