Objective
After completing the study unit, the student
- knows the importance of the Sustainability in business
- is able to define sustainable entrepreneurship in climate action
- is able to define innovation and its importance in sustainable business development
- understand how to create and innovate sustainable business from idea to proposal
- is able to innovate a small product/service based on the concept given in the material
Content
The study unit addresses to understand sustainability, climate action and circular economy. It helps students to increase green skills and competencies in sustainability. Students will practice to create ideas for entrepreneurship for sustainability. During the course students will learn to use innovation and design thinking concepts to build sustainable business model.
Location and time
The study course is carried out as an independent implementation according to the instructions given online (Moodle).
The student can register for the implementation on 31.10. by, and make the assignments on 30.11. by.
The student can do the implementation either in Finnish or in English. Small tests are in English.
Materials
The main material is the Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Climate Action e-book, which also contains videos and tasks. This book is available in English and Finnish. Additional material includes articles and other current articles.
Teaching methods
The study course is carried out as an independent implementation according to the instructions given online (Mododle).
Tests and Assignments:
1. Self-correcting tests (2) based on the handbook and additional articles/material.
2. Commentating synopsis based on the Handbook and additional articles. Length 10-12 pages. You can write it either in Finnish or in English.
3. 2-3 Assignments (to be defined later) from the e-book.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Pass: Student is able to define the sustainable entrepreneurship in business as well as innovation and its importance in business. Student is able to use the given tools and concepts when creating the product/service.
Fail: The student does not complete the assignments/ requirements according to instructions. He/she does not pass the assignments and/or the exam as required.
Assessment methods and criteria
Passed/Failed
The student passes both of the online tests (self-correcting tests). He/she creates the commentating synopsis with given instructions in approved level (it means minimum level grade 3, when the scale is 0…5). The given assignments should also all be approved.
