1. A writing task before the course
2. What is integration in the Arctic City? How does the Arctic development relate to people in the future? Why cities are shrinking and growing on the other part
3. Why A city needs change and needs human power?
4. What makes a city to be sustainable in the” Arctic”?
5. How cities collaborate and compete to broaden knowledge on the Future human population in the Arctic
6. Urban conflicts and the Role of future population
7. Adaptation of both immigrants and locals in a changing Arctic era.
8. What is racism? Why we should or shouldn´t discuss this topic openly?
Tavoitteet
At the end of the course, the participant:
- knows about Arctic Migration, its drivers and impacts as well as adaptation to a changing Arctic
- is able to analyze change, impacts and adaptation especially in the context of urban development and will broaden our knowledge on Future Polar People.
- is able to approach change in order to sustain urban development in the light of Migration theory.
Toteutustavat
Reading circle (14 h) based on a selection of articles, presentations and discussions. The reading circle meets 6 times (1 time for organization of the course and 5 reading circle meetings). One discussion session with focus group or study tours (3h). This course is preferably an in-situ course.
Suoritustavat
Reading the articles, oral presentations and participation in the discussion, a reading circle diary, study tours (social stakeholders) relevant for the studies.

Opetusmenetelmät
Reading circle (14 h) of relevant articles, presentations, and discussions. The reading circle meets several times both in the academic premises and outside the academia, and several focus group discussions with the target groups or study tours. This course is preferably an in-situ course.
Arviointikriteeri, hyväksytty/hylätty
The evaluation is based on oral presentations, participation in the discussion and a learning journal.
Esitietovaatimukset
The course is arranged for doctoral researchers. Motivated master’s level students can also join if there are available places.
