Competence goals

You understand human aging as part of the life cycle and you know the knowledge and value base, and ethical principles of gerontological nursing.
You can use evidence-based nursing recommendations and the methods of nursing and health promotion in nursing and decision-making for the elderly.
You can take into account the most common geriatric diseases and the basics of good nutrition as well as the medication process in the care of the elderly.
You are able to engage in professional interaction and decision-making with the elderly and their loved ones.
You can apply diverse teaching and guidance methods and utilize electronic services and wellness technology.
You implement resource- and customer-oriented nursing work for the elderly.
You carry out safe multi-professional and rehabilitative care for the elderly in different operating environments.
You can apply the principles and methods of palliative and hospice work.

Pass

• You are able to plan, implement and evaluate nursing work for clients of different ages using evidence-based, health-promoting and resource-enhancing information.
• You can take into account the special features of children, young people and families, and the special issues in emergency and reception nursing work.
• You can guide and support patients and clients individually in self-care and in health promotion.
• You understand the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration for customer well-being.
• You can implement safe medication in different operating environments.
• You can use digital social and health services in your practical training environment.
• You are able to comply with the data protection and security requirements of social and health care sector and the regulations governing them when creating, using, storing and disposing data.

Fail

• You are unable to plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for clients of all ages using evidence-based, health-promoting, and resource-enhancing information.
• You fail to take into account the special features of children, young people and families, nor the special issues in emergency and reception nursing work.
• You are unable to guide and support patients and clients individually in self-care and in health promotion.
• You are unable to understand the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration for customer well-being.
• You cannot implement safe medication in different operating environments.
• You cannot use digital social and health services in your practical training environment.

● You are not able to take into account the most common geriatric diseases and the basics of good nutrition as well as the medication process in the care of the elderly.
● You are not able engage in professional interaction and decision-making with the elderly person and their loved ones.
● You are not able to apply diverse teaching and guidance methods and utilize electronic services and well-being technology.
● You cannot carry out resource- and customer-oriented nursing work for the elderly.
● You cannot carry out safe multi-professional and rehabilitative care for the elderly in different operating environments.
● You don’t have the competence to use the principles and methods of palliative and hospice care.
