Tavoitteet
The purpose of the study unit is for the student to
1. To become acquainted with the content of European Economic, Social, and Cultural (ESC) rights
2. To understand the interdependence and nature of ESC norms.
3. To improve the student’s ability to act as an expert and attorney in international legal proceedings.
Toteutustavat
The study unit requires the student to
1. Familiarize oneself with the pre-reading material.
2. Complete the pre-exam based on the pre-reading.
3. Complete the substantive, topical lessons.
4. Complete the final exam based on the lessons.

Suoritustavat
The study unit is organized as an online learning platform. This is the only way to complete the study unit.
Sisältö
The study unit focuses on fundamental European ESC rights, the central legal sources of which are the following:
- European Convention of Human Rights
- European Social Charter
- Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union
The study unit provides lessons on the following topics:
- The general features of ESC rights
- Education & employment
- Conditions of employment
- Collective labour relations
- Thematic social rights
- Rights of vulnerable groups
- Access to justice

The exam is taken on the Open Moodle platform, to which a link is provided on the LearnDash platform. Your grades will be registered in 3 WEEKS from the day you have completed the exam.

Oppimateriaalit
The learning materials are provided on the learning platform. The materials consist of texts, graphs, and expert interviews. All lectures also include online exercises with feedback, which is helpful in preparing students for final exam.
Please note that the pre-reading materials and the pre-exam have their own section on top of the lessons.

The study unit is a self-study online course that uses the following teaching methods:
- Studying legal materials
- Watching expert interviews
- Completing exercises
Kansainvälisyys
The study unit is also offered to students from other educational institutions.
Arviointikriteeri, hyväksytty/hylätty
Passing the exam requires scoring at least 50 % points on the final exam.
Esitietovaatimukset
The student must have completed ONPOOL3 and have the sufficient amount of ECTS required for Master level studies to sign up for the course.
