The online seminar is organized during the time perioed mentioned in Peppi. The seminar consists of group work in and lectures. Attendance at a given time is not required so this course does not overlap with other courses. Student's complete the group work within the given schedule and watch the online lectures when they so wish. The online seminar requires active participaton during the whole duration of the course (about 6 weeks). Students that do not participate actively will be removed from the course.

After you have completed this online seminar (OTM0002D-1, 2 ECTS), you can then take the written exam (OTM0002D-2, 3 ECTS).

This online seminar is graded pass/faill.

Opetusmenetelmät

This online course introduces the students to the harmonized rules of private international law within the European Union. The course will cover the three main topics of private international law: jurisdiction, applicable law, and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments.

Instructions for accessing the course’s workspace in Moodle will be provided before the beginning of the course to students that have signed up in Peppi. All necessary study material will be provided during the course through Moodle.

During the course the students will work in groups of 3–4 students. The course consists of 2 writing assignments, that are completed in these groups. The course is conducted completely online. Participating to this course requires active participation throughout the whole duration of the course, but the course is organized in a manner that it does not overlap with other courses (there is not live teaching).

By attending this online course the students are awarded 2 ECTS (OTM0002D-1). After this, the students can then take the written exam, for which they will be awarded 3 ECTS (OTM0002D-2).
