Tavoitteet

Having successfully completed the course, the student will
1) be familiar with the most important periods of French history and their influence on modern France
2) be familiar with the institutions of the Fifth Republic of France, e.g., the president, the government, the parliament and the court system
3) have knowledge of French culture and everyday life
4) be aware of the linguistic aspects that affect the understanding of French culture and lifestyle
5) be familiar with French culture in a way that allows the student to be able to communicate effectively in French.

Toteutustavat

Lectures, discussions, individual and group tasks, exercises 36 h; 60 h of individual work.

Suoritustavat

Regular attendance, active participation in classroom activities, written assignment.

Sisältö

Lectures on the French-speaking world: French history, institutions, politics and culture.
Comparing French culture to other cultures.
