Objective

The thesis project combines various objectives of mastering a profession in the tourism and hospitality field (cases linked to ski resort management and sport event business). The student indicates his/her ability to apply what he/she has learned by solving a professional problem and thus developing his/her professional field. The student knows how to take an investigative approach and is able to choose the right research method for implementing his/her thesis project. He/she is able to make an analysis on the results gained and draw conclusions by using the appropriate theoretical background materials. The student knows how to retrieve a broad selection of right information for his/her thesis by using proper databases. He/she uses the source materials in a critical and reflective manner. The student is able to write his/her thesis by using proper academic language.
The student completes a maturity test related to his/her thesis project that indicates his/her familiarity with the topic and professional field and his/her language skills in English.
The thesis process is divided into two sections:
- planning the thesis (5 ECTS)
- implementing and reporting the thesis (10 ECTS)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The assessment criteria (scale 0-5) is given separately and it is based on the general assessment criteria of Lapland University of Applied Sciences.
