Objective
Having successfully completed the course, the student will be able to
1) communicate in more complex situations and to tell more about themselves
2) read and understand different types of texts in Italian
3) understand and use more complex sentence structures
4) understand important features of Italian culture and everyday life
5) achieve the level A2.1 of the CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Content
Destinazione Italia!
In this course, you are going to go for a visit in Italy and encounter a bit more challenging communicative situations of everyday life, e.g. buying clothes, visiting the bank and post office, going to the doctor. You will also learn to tell more about yourself and what you like, about your health and your childhood memories. Additionally, you will practice reading and writing a blog in Italian.
During the lessons, we will concentrate on listening comprehension, pronunciation and speaking exercises, and we will use pair and group exercises and small games in order to activate your communication skills. At home, you will be required to do some preparatory work for the lessons, as well as some homework and online activities in order to reinforce the language structures you have learnt in the course.
Qualifications
XITA0001 Italian 1 and XITA0002 Italian 2 or equivalent studies (CEFR A1). If you have studied Italian before and you would like to attend the course, please contact the teacher before the beginning of the course.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
1) active participation in class (attendance min. 80%)
2) completion of homework tasks and online activities (Moodle)
3) final exam.

Teaching methods
After the introductory meeting, students will complete an independent study module in the course's Moodle workspace. After the independent study period, course meetings will be held both online and in contact teaching. Participation in online and contact teaching is mandatory.
