Objective

Having successfully completed the course, the student will
1) be familiar with the most important facts of French history, geography and institutions
2) have knowledge of French culture, society and lifestyle.
3) get to know the Francophonie and its importance in international relations
4) be familiar with French culture in a way that allows the student to be able to communicate effectively in French.

Units on Moodle covering various topics such as :
1) French history, geography and institutions
2) French culture, society and lifestyle
3) What is Francophonie

Teaching methods

Course online and asynchronous (independent work).

Online meetings will be organized once a month for questions if needed.

A degree student attending the Lapland University of Applied Sciences can register free of charge for LUC studies offered by the University of Lapland, if the studies can be linked to their own degree. Enrollment takes place through the Applicant’s Desktop of the University of Lapland: https://hakeutuminen-lay.peppi4.lapit.csc.fi/web/hakijan-tyopoyta/. From the left hand menu, first select "Study selection" and then "LUC studies YO”, and you will see the entire offering. Choose the study unit in question and register.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

1) Contact teaching, 12h : 80% attendance is required.
2) Independent work online : reading the material, completing the activities and writing tasks, be active on the forum.
