Objective
Having successfully completed this course, the student will
1) be familiar with the most fundamental concepts, phenomena and features of Chinese culture and how they affect the patterns of Chinese daily life
2) have a better understanding of China in the past and today, Chinese mentality as well as Chinese people
3) be able to comprehend the differences between the Chinese culture and the participants’ own background cultures
4) be aware of applying the knowledge to a studying or working life in China or to deal with the Chinese in an international work environment.
Content
The course consists of extensive information on Chinese Culture and hot topics on contemporary China, e.g. brief Chinese history and geology, Chinese traditional ideology, Chinese cuisine, festivals in China, Chinese family and family concept, Chinese painting and calligraphy, Chinese medicine, Chinese education and contemporary China, etc. The course includes information through texts, lectures and different media.
