Objective

After successful completion of the course, participants will be able
1) to find relevant information in Russian on academic subjects on the internet
2) to apply reading and problem solving strategies to extensive academic texts in Russian.

Content

Participants are required to find a relevant academic text in Russian language related to their main subject of study (social sciences, education, law, arts etc.). The text is to be ca. 12 pages long and font size 11. The expected level of the text is B2, which is typical of popular science texts. The text must be approved by the course teacher. The participants will work independently with the text and write a summary in English or in Finnish. The summary is to be 2-3 pages long. Both the text and the summary will be submitted to the teacher at a pre-agreed time.
