Objective
Having successfully completed the course, the student will be able to
1. understand the relationship between letters of the Ukrainian alphabet and sounds of the Ukrainian literary language,
2. understand basic grammatical structures in Ukrainian language,
3. pronounce phonemes correctly and define the phonetic elements of the Ukranian language,
4. read and compose short utterances on general topics,
5. achieve the level A1.1 of the CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).
Content
The course contains theoretical and practical material aimed at gradual learning of the Ukrainian language to the level A1. Through various types of exercises both in the classroom and for independent work, the students will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the Ukrainian alphabet, pronunciation, grammatical structures and basic vocabulary for everyday situations.
The course contains in-class and out-of-class exercises in pronunciation and fluency, reading comprehension, basic communication, and grammatical functions.
