Objective

After successful completion of the course the student will :
1) be able to discuss about news topics that reflect today's French culture and society
2) acquire a diversified vocabulary
3) express his/her personal opinion in French
4) achieve the level B1 of the CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Content

The course focuses mostly on oral and listening skills.
Discussions about news topics that reflect today's French culture and society.
Authentic documents will be used : videos, radio extracts, press articles...

Qualifications

Level A2 of the CEFR (the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), e.g. the basic courses XRAN0001 to XRAN0004 offered by the Language Centre.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

1) 80% attendance is required. It is allowed to miss maximum 2 classes. Extra homework will be done to compensate for the absences.

2) Active participation in class.

3) Final exam (oral).
