Objective

Upon successful completion of the course the students will
1) be familiar with research of cultural differences in business and work-life in different countries
2) have an understanding of differences in verbal and nonverbal communication throughout the world
3) be able to identify underlying cultural characteristics.

Content

This course focuses on two particular aspects of intercultural communication: differences in work-life culture, and differences in face-to-face communication (verbal and nonverbal communication). A short repetition of the most widely used models of classification for cultural differences is included at the beginning, so the course may be completed successfully without taking XICP0211 Introduction to Intercultural Communication, first.

Qualifications

XICP0211 Introduction to Intercultural Communication is recommended. However, it is possible to participate and successfully complete this course without taking the introduction course first.
