Objective
Note: This course may be taken only after successful completion of XICP0215V24 Intercultural Communication: Culture & Communication or XICP0216V24 Intercultural Communication: Culture & Conflict, or a similar course.
After successful completion, participants are able to describe their own culture in the objective, comparative terminology of the cultural values models in question. They are able to flesh out this comparative picture of their culture with observations about its historic development and its everyday realities.
Content
Participants acquaint themselves with the Lewis Model and the World Values Survey. They use the models’ findings to produce a comparative picture of their own culture in a global context. They then discuss the realities encountered within their culture using the categories offered by these models.
