Osaamistavoitteet
The student will learn the advanced features of international and European copyright law as well as differences between the legal copyright traditions and systems of the world. The student will learn to understand the central concepts of copyright law and familiarize him or herself with recent international scholarship. The student will acquire skills to evaluate and test comparative conclusions for reliability and accuracy.
Sisältö
The course covers advanced international and European copyright law. The course covers selected court cases and legislation on similar issues in different legal cultures. The student will improve research skills in utilizing international legal sources, institutions and databases.
Esitietovaatimukset
Basic course in intellectual property law, such as Immateriaalioikeus 5 ECTS or equivalent. The course is a Master level course.

The course is offered online by IPR University Center. Quotas apply, however selection of eligible students within the quotas is performed on a first-come-first-served basis. See prerequisites for eligibility. There are two possible registration rounds of the course. The first registration round opens in November every year, while the second registration round opens in March. You must register during that time via a dedicated link (coming later).
Selected students will be informed of their selection by email and be granted access to the study portal, where further information is available.
Quotas: The course is offered in cooperation with IPR University Center. Entry is limited to 25 students per registration round. Students from UEF Law School, University of Lapland and University of Helsinki have priority to 21 seats, giving each partner 7 seats. Should any seats remain open they default to eligible students at UEF Law School, University of Lapland and University of Helsinki respectively, in order of registration. Students from other IPR University member universities are reserved 4 seats. Any registered, eligible student may fill a vacant seat, if quotas are not otherwise filled. Language of instruction is English, including all assignments. The course is available as a Master specialization course for the OTM degree, as a Subject Studies Course or a practice seminar for the HTK/HTM degree.

Toteutustavat
The course may be completed 100 % online through independent study of electronically available course materials. The course consists e.g. assignments, essay paper, quizzes and problems based on the course materials. Students completing the online course by end of April will be graded by end of May. Students completing the online course by end of July will be graded by end of August.
Teaching methods:
E-platform:
The course has a learning platform at IPR University Center that includes all learning material for the course, including quizzes. All students submit their essays on the IPRUC learning platform. UEF students will submit their essays for plagiarism detection via TURNITIN in UEF eLearn.
