Osaamistavoitteet

After the course, the student has up-to-date knowledge about a specific area of legal informatics, and is familiar with different ways in which ICT can be used in the courts, in out-of-the-court dispute resolution, and in providing government services. The student also recognizes relevant legal issues and possible threats to citizen’s rights associated with such developments.

Sisältö

The course covers topics such as:
- the history and current possibilities for the use of ICT in the national courts and in transborder proceedings,
- the history and current possibilities for the use of ICT in dispute resolution outside the traditional court procedure,
- the concepts and theoretical foundations of e-Government and iGovernment
- the development of electronic services in the public sector from legal and technological perspectives.

Suoritustavat

Written examination.

Lectures, 8–16 h (optional, not available every semester). Participation in the lectures before taking the exam replaces some of the required literature, as stated in the information concerning the lecture series in question.
