Osaamistavoitteet

The objective of this course is to enhance the employability super skills by means of feedback, reflection and experiential learning workshops. Furthermore, the aim of this course is to establish how facilitation can benefit graduate students of the University of Lapland, so that the students will be able to create their employability after graduation, as well as their integration in working life in the future.

With group dynamic workshops the new students will get to know fellow students and learn to work with them. They will interact with each other and build connections in a carefully created and structured environment. Finally, the new students get to build a trust and understanding that they can get educational and moral help, not only from teachers, but from each other.
After the course students will be able to collaborate, communicate, share knowledge, be creative, know how to evaluate, and do problem solving in groups as well as individually. Furthermore, the students be able:
To evaluate themselves using reflection, feedback, and experiential learning.
To create their knowledge using super skills.
To analyze their studies and group work based on the super skills
To reflect upon their skills and recognize their personal development and be able to create and evaluate it in writing.
To evaluate as well as access their employability super skills – mainly communication, motivation/initiative, and leadership.

Sisältö

The structure of the course is workshop based. Therefore, all the content is provided in each class.
Workshops: 4 Hours * 5 days = 1 ECTS
The content is based on the workshops that include tasks followed by written and oral reflection, as well as written and oral feedback and experiential learning conversation.
With the help of workshops participants will communicate, motivate, take initiatives and practice leadership roles.
Project: 1 month = 2 ECTS
Everything that participants will learn in the workshops will be practiced in a small collaborative project. The brief of the project will be chosen from OpenIDEO open challenges.
Workshops are conducted in one week. Every day we spend 4 hours in a workshop. There will be an optional reading material which will be introduced in the first meeting. Whereas, Project is all about implementing knowledge created during the workshops. The length of a project is one month and there are three group meetings or as agreed with the group. The final third meeting will be the day groups present their findings. The first two meetings will be to meet and find out the process work of a group.
