Objective

The goal is to understand the implementation of electronic components and equipment in IoT context. The course introduces students to basics of sensors and actuator electronics. The student becomes familiar with device-based programming and the concept of the hardware interface. In addition, the student will learn about electrical safety and working in a lab environment.

- Getting acquainted with working in a lab environment
- Electrical safety in a lab
- Electronics connections etc. soldering
- Electronic measuring instruments, multimeter and oscilloscope
- Electronic components
- Sensors and actuators as part of IoT (Internet of Things) embedded systems
- Hardware interface

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student can work in the laboratory and masters electrical and equipment safety. The student can make an electronic connection and can use tools and measuring devices properly.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can work in a laboratory environment.

The student can integrate electronics into an IoT-system and control the hardware interface as part of an embedded IoT-system.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student can work in a laboratory environment.

The student can design and implement an electronic connection and integrate it into an embedded IoT-system.

The student masters the hardware interface and can utilize and implement APIs between systems
