Sisällön jaksotus
This course introduces students to the principles and practices of designing meaningful and engaging experiences, particularly within the tourism, hospitality, and leisure sectors. Students will learn how to plan, orchestrate, and manage customer experiences, applying design thinking and user-centered approaches to create value and enhance service offerings. Key themes include: - Experience Economy and its role in service development - Customer value creation through experiential design - Service design tools and methods for innovation - Developing new concepts and solutions for real-world cases - Internationalization strategies and cultural considerations in experience design The course combines lectures, seminars, group projects, and case analyses, encouraging collaboration and practical application of theoretical concepts.

The student is able to - design, orchestrate and manage customer’s experiences - create meanings and meaningful contents and solutions in tourism and leisure - apply design and user-centrism in development of tourism, hospitality and leisure services and business

Aika ja paikka
Online Lecture Attendance Policy: 80%. If you fall below, there will be an extra assignment (plus fall to the final grade) Punctuality: Arrive on time for online lectures. Assignment Deadline Policy: Late submissions will not be accepted Activeness during the course sessions will affect the final grade positively

Opetusmenetelmät
This course will be taught via weekly online lectures. Students will work in teams to create a business plan for an (imaginary) experience company. Each week new topics of experience design will be covered and students will have weekly assignments to update their business plans.

Online lecturing. Moodle.
Toteutuksen valinnaiset suoritustavat
Individual work instead of the group work. Submissions of about 4 hrs work every week.
Opiskelijan ajankäyttö ja kuormitus
The work load is 5x27 hrs = 135 hrs - 16x2 hrs online lectures = 32 hrs - reading assignments about 1,5 h/ week - written reflection about 1 h/ week - individual work for the group assignment about 2 hrs/ week - online group meetings 2 h/ week
