After completing the study unit, the student

Content
The study unit addresses to understand sustainability, climate action and circular economy. It helps students to increase green skills and competencies in sustainability. Students will practice to create ideas for entrepreneurship for sustainability. During the course students will learn to use innovation and design thinking concepts to build sustainable business model.
Location and time
The study course is carried out as an independent implementation according to the instructions given online (Mododle).
The student can register for the implementation on 31.10. by, and make the assignments on 30.11. by.
The student can do the implementation either in Finnish or in English.
Materials
The main material is the Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Climate Action e-book, which also contains videos and tasks. This book is available in English and Finnish. Additional material includes articles and other current articles.
Teaching methods
The study course is carried out as an independent implementation according to the instructions given online (Mododle).
Tests and Assignments:
1. Self-correcting tests (2) based on the handbook and additional articles/material.
2. Commentating synopsis based on the Handbook and additional articles. Length 10-12 pages. You can write it either in Finnish or in English.
3. 2-3 Assignments (to be defined later) from the e-book.

Pass: Student is able to define the sustainable entrepreneurship in business as well as innovation and its importance in business. Student is able to use the given tools and concepts when creating the product/service.
Fail: The student does not complete the assignments/ requirements according to instructions. He/she does not pass the assignments and/or the exam as required.

Passed/Failed
The student passes both of the online tests (self-correcting tests). He/she creates the commentating synopsis with given instructions in approved level (it means minimum level grade 3, when the scale is 0…5). The given assignments should also all be approved.

The aim of the course is to familiarize the student with the basic concepts and principles of EU-funded projects, their planning and management. After the course:
• You understand the importance of external funding as a part of development activities in your field.
• You know what national and international project funding consists of, and how and what the funding can be used for.

• You understand the importance of stakeholders in projects.
• You know the different phases of the project life cycle (Project Cycle Management PCM).
• You know how to produce a concept note and identify a suitable funding source for the idea.

The study unit can be taken at different stages of studies. The study unit is carried out online, regardless of location, and independently as online studies. The study unit is implemented non-stop, which means you can complete the studies flexibly and at your own pace, taking into account the return dates below:
The last return date for assignments in the fall semester is 30 November 2023, assessment by 11 December 2023.
The last return date for assignments in the spring semester is May 31, 2024, assessment June 12. by. In the summer semester, the last return date for assignments is August 31, 2024, evaluation by August 31, 2024.
You can also return the learning assignments for evaluation at another time, and evaluation will be completed within one month.

Grade 1 > The student understands companies need to compile reports on sustainability. He/she understands the connection between financial statement and sustainable reporting. The student knows the legislation governing financial statements and sustainable reporting both nationally and internationally. He/she is able to analyse for sustainability according to current framework.
Grade 2 > The student understands companies’ need to compile reports on sustainability and understands the why the connection between financial statement and sustainable reporting is important.
The student knows and is able to follow the legislation governing financial statements and sustainable reporting both nationally and internationally.
The student is able to choose and use suitable methods when analysing for sustainability according to the current framework.
Assessment criteria, good (3-4)
Grade 3 > The student is able to analyse company’s sustainability report and use the information for making conclusion about the company’s sustainability together with the financial statement information. He/she understands the legislation governing financial statements and sustainable reporting both nationally and internationally. The student is able to analyse for sustainability in accordance with the current framework.
Grade 4 > The student is able to analyze and give recommendations on company’s operations related to sustainability based on the company’s sustainability report and financial statement.
He /she understand the legislation governing financial statements and sustainable reporting both nationally and internationally and can use the information when giving recommendations on company’s sustainability.
The student is able to analyze for sustainability in accordance with the current framework.

Grade 5 > The student is able to critically analyse company’s sustainability report and use the information for making justified conclusion about the company’s sustainability together with the financial statement information. He/she understands and is able to utilize the legislation governing financial statements and sustainable reporting when analysing sustainability reports. The study unit addresses sustainability and climate change challenge and aims to enhance entrepreneurial mindset.
During the course students increase sustainability competences and develop green skills.

The course helps students to develop business ideas that can be transferred into a real-life sustainable entrepreneurship ventures.

This course is based on problem-based and project-based learning approach focusing on practical hands-on activities and project work. This course is implemented in cooperation with international partners.

Teaching methods
The course is designed for independent studies including online lectures and tutorials, online presentations and discussions, virtual team work, self-managed performance. Based on the principals of problem based learning, the students design a sustainable entrepreneurship plan with the use of given tools. Part of the course can include the field studies.
