Objective

After completing the course the student:
• identifies key winter sports in Lapland and their basic equipment.
• is able to move safely in snowy and cold outdoor environments.
• understands the physiological effects of cold and applies appropriate clothing and equipment.
• demonstrates basic skills to assess risks and act safely in outdoor winter activities.
• reflects on personal experiences of winter sports from wellbeing and cultural perspectives.

• Introduction to the Arctic winter environment and Lappish sports culture
• Practical training: safe movement on snow, winter sports
• Physiological effects of cold, clothing principles and equipment use
• Safety and risk management: hypothermia, frostbite, outdoor capability
• Reflection on experiences
