Content scheduling

Study course themes: - Risks and safety issues, involved in tourism - Tourism safety guidelines - Safe tourism in Finland - Fire prevention and emergency safety services - Basics of food safety, sanitation and workplace hygiene In each implementation, you will find a theory part related to the topic. Themes are clarified and deepened during the topics and independently by familiarising yourself with the study material.

Objective

Where do you find information, models and guides about tourism risks and safety issues? What kind of risks and safety issues are involved in tourism? What are the duties and responsibilities of entrepreneurs and staff in tourism field? How do you perform a risk assessment? What kind of safety documents are required in hospitality business? How do you work responsibly and in compliance with safety norms?

Teaching methods

This course is for CampusOnline-students, not for Xamk degree students. The course is designed to take future tourism service providers through the complete process of setting up and running a safety management system in their operation of guided experiences. Delivered in a progressive and practical format, this program exposes participants to what they need to know about risk management and safety practices. There are no live lectures or group work in this course. Online studies according to the self controlled schedule accelerate studies.

Employer connections

Learning requires that you familiarise yourself with the topics covered in the Study Course and master them both in theory and in practice. You demonstrate your competence as evidence of competence, the extent of which is determined by the learning objectives of the course.

Exam schedules

Each course topic contains a quiz or test. Four quizes and 2 tests are done in the course. At the end of the course there is the final course test. All tests and quizzes are graded automatically and they are time-limited.

Student workload

The course is 5 ECTS. The student's workload is 135 hours. However, the amount of work depends on your study skills and previous knowledge.
