Kurssi on täysin verkossa toteutuva ja tehdään itsenäisesti. Kurssi on laajuudeltaan 2 opintopistettä, mikä tarkoittaa, että tarvitset sen suorittamiseen arviolta noin 54 tuntia työskentelyaikaa. Objective

The student will be able to - explain the most common types of dementia and their prevalence - Identify the impact of dementia on individuals, communities and society - describe the rights and access to care and rehabilitation of people with a diagnosis - acknowledge the person living with dementia as a unique individual.

Location and time

A study module conducted entirely online on the Moodle learning platform. The course is implemented twice a year and can be completed flexibly at a personally suitable time within the implementation's schedule framework. The completion period is For the spring semester’s implementation: 1 January–31 July. For the autumn semester’s implementation: 1 August–31 December. THIS IS THE SPRING SEMESTER IMPLEMENTATION! Metropolia’s gerontology students must successfully complete the course before their first practical training.

The course unit utilises online materials and sources. The material is primarily in Finnish. Some English-language articles are available on the course unit.
