Objective

Upon successful completion of the course or after demonstrating the required prior learning, the student is able to - apply central key concepts and terminology of the specialization area - demonstrate advanced professional spoken and written business communication in English - communicate fluently and professionally in the global context of the specialization area

Methods of completion

CONTACT' for contact courses. In contact courses the teacher and the student are physically in the same location on campus, usually at a specifically scheduled time. 'BLENDED' for blended courses. In blended courses contact teaching (daytime, in the evening or intensively) is combined with online studies independently and/or in cooperation with other students. 'ONLINE' for online courses. In online courses the teacher and the student are connected only through information and communications technology. The implementation includes scheduled online studies (e.g. lectures or group work). 'VIRTUAL' for virtual courses. In virtual courses the student studies independently in a virtual learning environment. Students can communicate with other students and the teacher through a virtual learning environment. Students can complete assignments and possible exams at a time that suits them best. 'EVENING' for evening courses where all meetings start after 4 pm. If you have the required prior learning, you can demonstrate your competence via the RPL process. You will be able to convey shades of meaning more precisely with a wider range of vocabulary needed in a variety of business environments.

- key concepts of the specialization area - terminology of the specialization area - professional spoken (meetings, negotiations, debates, presentations) and written business communication (meeting documents, project documents, international trade documentation, emails) as applicable - intercultural communication skills - topical, current industry-related material - various tools and applications for professional communication

Qualifications

Pre-requisites: Before taking this course, the student must have completed the Professional English Key Competence course or corresponding RPL process. The course is part of the Specialization Studies of the Bachelor’s Degree. The course is part of the Language Studies of the Hospitality Management Bachelor’s Degree. The CEFR level of the course is B2-C1.
