Content scheduling

Guided, self-paced virtual learning materials will be released weekly via Moodle. An optional Zoom teaching session will be held once a week throughout the course. For those unable to attend the optional Zoom sessions, a recorded video of each session will be uploaded to Moodle weekly.

Objective

A student who has completed this course or has acquired equal knowledge will be able to • handle everyday life and work situations orally • master the basic skills of reading and writing common Chinese characters and interpreting their original “pictogram stories” and structures • communicate in Chinese-speaking countries considering their special cultural characteristics • take into account cultural diversity • plan their future language studies and start their exchange abroad.

Methods of completion

Welcome to continue studying Chinese! You will deepen your knowledge of what you have learnt in the Chinese 1 course. You will learn how to handle the most common everyday life and work situations. Together with the other students, you will improve your communication skills and get to know digital communication in Chinese. You also will develop further cultural and intercultural skills.

Content

Content • discuss one’s own daily and weekly program • describe one’s living environment • manage in a restaurant or a shopping center • manage in renting a car or a bike • express one’s own opinion • digital communication in the language in Chinese • develop travel plans, booking a hotel and travelling • deepen one’s own cultural knowledge of Chinese-speaking countries and their cultures

Materials

Teaching methods

Target level: A1.2 In addition to the virtual materials in Moodle, an optional Zoom online meeting will be held once a week at 8:00-9:00 o'clock on Thursdays throughout the course For those who cannot attend the optional Zoom sessions, a recorded video of each session will be released weekly to guide your self-paced learning.

Employer connections

Chinese work environment and culture will be introduced through cultural information and videos.

Exam schedules

There is no traditional exam. Instead, two holistic assignments (one oral and one written) will be released in Moodle at the beginning of the last week of the course.
