Objective
Upon completing this course, the student will be able to name and locate (in both Finnish and Latin) the following human nerves, list the muscles and skin areas they innervate, and describe the course of these nerves in relation to the joints (focusing on the structures most relevant to physiotherapy): - Nerves of the scapular region - Nerves of the upper limb - Nerves of the abdomen, pelvis, anterior thigh, and medial thigh - Nerves of the lower limb
Location and time
The course is implemented 100% as an online course on Moodle during the implementation period. Competence is demonstrated through an Exam test.
Materials
All Exam materials are available on the Moodle platform. The exam materials are primarily based on three sources: 1. Hokkanen, M. & Vierimaa, H. 2019. Tuki- ja liikuntaelimistön anatomia. Opiskelukirja. Sanoma Pro Oy. (This book is primarily used as a textual source.) 2. Drake, R. L., Vogl, A. W., & Mitchell MB BS, F. 2022. Gray’s Basic Anatomy: Gray’s Basic Anatomy - E-Book (3rd ed.). Elsevier. (This book is primarily used as an image source.) 3. Hansen, J. T. 2022. Netter’s clinical anatomy (Fifth Edition.). Elsevier. (This book is primarily used as an image source.) Additionally, anatomical images can be searched using Google Images. It is also recommended to explore three-dimensional models or videos on platforms such as YouTube, as understanding two-dimensional images can otherwise be challenging.
Teaching methods
The course is conducted entirely as a self-paced online course. On the Moodle learning platform: Written study materials, short video lectures, independent self-assessment, and the opportunity for peer discussions. In Exam test facilities: Course examination.
