Content
Are you planning to travel, work or study in Germany, Austria or Switzerland? Are you a beginner with no prior knowledge of German? Dive into the basics of German and open doors to new opportunities! Discover German 1 – Your gateway to a new language. The students will learn the basics of German language. They will learn how to pronounce German and how to use some greetings and introduce people to each other. They will learn how to communicate in simple everyday situations. The main topics are - getting to know each other - at a restaurant - studying at a university - basic grammar structures.
Materials
The material is to be found in a digital learning environment, the Moodle platform of Savonia University of Applied Sciences.
Teaching methods
This is an online course in a digital learning environment, the Moodle platform of Savonia University of Applied Sciences. The course consists of introduction part and three modules which contain texts, grammar, practice tasks and assignments. Also two optional Zoom-meetings are held mainly to practice oral skills and pronunciation as well as to deepen the knowledge of key structures. Final exam is held in the Exam environment which is an electronic exam taking place in an Exam room. The assessment is based on 1. Completing the practice tasks on Moodle, i.e. achieving 70% of the score of the practice tasks. 2.Finishing the assignments in each module following the given deadlines. The total course grade takes into account the the points of the assignments. For the lowest grade you need at least 50 % of the points, for grade 3 the limit is to get at least 70% of the points, and for grade 5 you need at least 90% of the points. 3.. Final exam in an EXAM room. The course starts on the 19th of January and the final exam takes place in week 14..
Student workload
The total work load of the student is approximately 81 hours. One credit requires 27 hours of work from the student.
Qualifications
No previous studies in German are required. The course is for beginners.
