Objective

Content

Have you been thinking about studying Spanish? Spanish is world’s second most spoken language. Learning Spanish is a great way to connect to the world! Wherever you go, there will be someone speaking Spanish. In this course, you will learn the basics of the Spanish language. You will learn how to pronounce Spanish and use the intonation. You will learn to communicate in various everyday situations: how to greet people, how to tell about yourself and your family, how to ask and show the way, how to visit a coffeeshop and book a hotel room. Contents: - basics of the Spanish pronunciation - basic structures and vocabulary - everyday situations (e.g. greetings, introducing yourself, family, job, going to a coffeeshop, hotel reservation)

Materials

All the materials are available in a digital learning environment, the Moodle platform of Savonia University of Applied Sciences.

Teaching methods

This is a 100% online course in a digital learning environment, the Moodle platform of Savonia University of Applied Sciences. The course consists of orientation part and 3 modules which contain texts, grammar, practice tasks and assignments. The assessment is based on finishing 2 compulsory assignments in each module following the given deadlines. In addition, there are 2 compulsory orientation tasks in the beginning of the course. The final exam (80% correct) is taken after completing the 3 modules. The course evaluation is pass/fail. The course starts on the 2nd of February 2026 and the final exam takes place on the 29th of April 2026.

Student workload

Student’s workload is approximately 81 hours. One credit requires 27 hours of work.

Qualifications

Completing the course does not require previous knowledge in Spanish.
