Objective

The aim is that the student familiarizes themselves with the language and reaches a level where they can manage basic everyday and service situations. The student also learns about the culture. After completing the basic course, the student is able to: - pronounce the language - use the alphabet - greet - name the days of the week, seasons and months - introduce themself and ask common questions - tell about a family - use numbers - communicate in easy service situations i.e. in a café or when travelling - tell time and ask about it - form simple sentences and questions - give and ask for directions - use the most common verbs - describe using adjectives and colors - tell about the weather - tell about hobbies - tell about ways of living - use basic grammar structures - understand fairly easy texts - familiarize themselves with the culture of the language and interesting places The target level of the course according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is A1.2.

Content

The course consists of a Presentation and 8 Units of learning material. Each learning chapter includes vocabulary, grammar, video files, exercises and culture information. There are few online meetings included in this course but these lectures are not mandatory. However it is advisable to participate the lectures since they will not be recorded. Participation in the online meetings is optional and does not affect your final grade. Notice that you need a camera and a microphone to attend these meetings.

Teaching methods

Opintoihin sisältyy muutamia verkkotapaamisia, joihin osallistuminen on vapaaehtoista. Verkkotapaamisiin kannattaa osallistua, koska luentoja ei nauhoiteta jälkikäteen katsottavaksi.
