Objective

Competencies in focus At the end of the course the student will-Have awareness of how climate change impacts ourhealth-Be able to describe the impacts of climate changeon human health-Identify opportunities for nurses to engage inaction and advocacy to move climate solutionsforward Learning outcomes At the end of the course the students will be ableto:-Assess the seriousness and urgency ofclimate change-Recognize the main effects of climatechange, their implications for our present andfuture lives.-Identify the causes of these changes andthe key processes that determine their effects-Identify the critical required actions, ona personal, national and global level-Define key concepts related to climatechange-Identify the major risks associated withhuman-induced climate change-Recognize the actions we need to take

Course contents The course is 100% on-line.It consists of the Introduction and four Modules.The themes are:1. Climate and climate change2. Nutrition3. Global and Public health4. Health and diseasesIn this course there are TedTalks, a recordedwebinar, scientific articles, books, blogs and twoon-line web-based courses about Climate Challenge.

Prerequisites and co-requisites -Curiosity and concern for our planet and howclimate change challenges are affecting our health-The course can be taken as extension studies withinan Arcada Nursing degree program
