Objective

The student strengthens and expands their basic skills in Finnish language at the level A2. The student communicates with simple sentences in everyday life and some professional communicative situations. The student understands general speech and recognizes the topics in a conversation. The student has learnt to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words and categories of words. The student writes short texts on familiar and everyday topics with the most common vocabulary and structures. CEFR (Common European Framework Reference level) A2.2, developing basic language skills

Content

The focus is on everyday and professional situations. Finnish grammar and communication skills, including speaking, writing, speech comprehension and reading. Grammatical themes covered include verb tenses, plural nouns and some other noun structures, and different sentence types. Communicational situations introduce everyday language situations at home and in working life, e.g.: running errands, traditions and holidays, and education and work. The differences between spoken and written language are taken into account. The language of teaching is mainly Finnish. English is used as necessary.

Exam schedules

Lectures and exam during weeks 3-18. The final exam will be organised in an Examination Room (no Moodle exam). Resit exams will be announced later.
