Objective
The object of the course In this course, you will familiarize yourself with the basic concepts and definitions of jurisprudence, as well as the legislation governing contract law and environmental legislation, principles of contract law, and legal practice. You will develop your own expertise in contract law matters and apply what you have learned in practical situations. Contract law is the most central legal area, and you will need the knowledge of contract law not only in your studies, but also constantly in your work, irrespective of whether you work in the private or public sector. Course competences Business competence The students know the central theories related to this specialisation option. The students possess at least an advanced beginner’s skills in the practical tasks of the specialisation option. Learning to learn Student is able to acquire, critically assess and appropriately apply the national and international knowledge base and practices of their field. Ethics Is able to take responsibility for their own actions and their consequences and reflects on them in accordance with the ethical principles and values of their field. Working in working life Utilises the opportunities offered by technology and digitalisation in their work. The learning objectives of the course You understand the basic legal concepts and definitions. You are familiar with the legislation governing contract law and the general principles of contract law and key issues about sustainable development and their connection to contract law. You recognize the legal question at stake in the court case. You are capable of preparing documents related to contract law.
Content
The Finnish legal system Legal action and legal capacity Conclusion and termination of contract Form, content and interpretation of contracts Legal practice The course covers basic concepts related to jurisprudence and sustainable development, questions related to making and terminating a contract, and invalidity. The starting points related to the interpretation of agreements and related jurisprudence.

Teaching methods
The course is completed as an independent study by completing the online lectures (recorded webinars) and passing the course assignments and the final exam. Assignments have a pass/fail evaluation and a numerical evaluation in the final exam. All assignments and the exam must be passed.
Exam schedules
You can complete the course within your own schedule. The course includes a final exam, which the student completes independently in Moodle.
Completion alternatives
The implementation of an optional method of executionrequires a special reason, which is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
