Objective

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
• Explain core concepts of sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation.
• Identify opportunities based on societal, environmental, technological, and market changes.
• Apply foresight and Design Thinking methods to develop and refine entrepreneurial ideas.
• Design and evaluate sustainable and innovative business models.
• Prototype, test, and iterate solutions using appropriate technologies
• Analyse value creation, value capture, and funding options for innovative ventures.
• Manage innovation-related change within organisations and user contexts.
• Integrate cybersecurity and responsible AI considerations into entrepreneurial strategies.

Content

This course provides participants with a holistic understanding of sustainable entrepreneurship, innovation, and enabling entrepreneurial technologies in contemporary business environments.
The course introduces key concepts of sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation, guiding participants through a structured process of opportunity identification, idea development, business modelling, prototyping, and implementation.
Participants learn to identify societal, environmental, and market challenges using foresight tools and weak-signal scanning, refine ideas through Design Thinking, and develop sustainable business models using the Sustainable Business Model Canvas. Innovation perspectives are embedded throughout the course, including types and sources of innovation, value creation and capture, innovation funding, project selection, and change management.
The course further equips participants with hands-on experience in prototyping technologies and an understanding of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence considerations essential for responsible and secure entrepreneurial practice.

International connections

This course is suitable for students at the YAMK/Master level. There are a limited number of places (1-3 students). The implementation is international as part of an international project's educational cooperation..
