Objective

Understand the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence: what AI is and how it works.
Gain knowledge of AI history and theoretical foundations, including the basics of neural networks and language models.
Use common AI tools, such as prompt-based tools, as well as other AI solutions for different purposes.
Design and deliver an AI training course (e.g., workplace training or a community college course).

Content

Complete the University of Helsinki’s open online course Elements of AI.
Learn to use various AI tools for data processing and transformation.
Design and deliver a 15-hour AI workshop course, suitable for implementation in a community education setting.
At the beginning of the course, study AI tools under instructor guidance, and at the end, lead the planned community course.

Successfully complete the Elements of AI course. Participate in guided workshop sessions with the instructor. Do not take part in delivering the planned course.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Successfully complete the Elements of AI course. Participate in guided workshop sessions and in course planning. Demonstrate understanding and ability to use popular AI tools.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Successfully complete the Elements of AI course. Participate in guided workshop sessions and show interest and skill in applying AI tools. Successfully design and deliver the community workshop course.
