Content scheduling

1.-29.8.2025. Kurssi toteutetaan verkossa ilman reaaliaikaista opetusta, mutta tehtäville on tarkat palautuspäivät, eli kurssia ei voi suorittaa omassa tahdissa.
Opintojakso on avoin kaikkien muiden tiedekuntien opiskelijoille paitsi OTK:n (he osallistuvat OENG0710/11 opintojaksolle). Senioriteettiperiaate, eli opiskelijat valitaan opintojaksolle suoritettujen opintopisteiden perusteella

Objective

Upon successful completion of the course, the student:

1. is able to reflect on and assess their own writing skills and recognize areas of development
2. understands writing as a process and is able to use a variety of tools (including AI) to support the writing process
3. is able to take the target audience into consideration when producing academic texts
4. understands the role of feedback and is able to apply feedback from peers and the teacher to their own writing and give other students constructive feedback
5. is able to write clear, reasonably fluent texts relatively free from mechanical errors
6. has developed strategies for continuous learning of written communication in English.

Execution methods

Independent, pair and small-group tasks online and/or in class.

Accomplishment methods

Successful completion of course assignments and active participation.

Content

The course provides the student with an opportunity to improve their ability to communicate in written English in academic contexts. The objective of the course is to develop skills and strategies for the effective use of language resources, such as different online tools. Students will practice the different stages of the writing process through focused tasks on academic writing style, paraphrasing, paragraph development, argumentation and cohesion.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Based on active participation, successful completion of the course assignments.
