Gains practical skills in the workshop-based implementation of art and design productions.

Execution methods

Workshops are typically contact teaching. 1 credit point corresponds to 26.7 hours of work. Reporting of workshops conducted elsewhere is also applicable and recommended.

Accomplishment methods

Active participation in workshop instruction or a visual-verbal report of a workshop conducted elsewhere.

Content

Art or design workshop, which can be carried out uniquely, for example, in connection with an event or as part of international teacher mobility.

Materials

Literature will be distributed at the beginning of the course, adapted to the specific situation of each field course location (Nomadic Hub of Arctic Art Education).


Teaching methods

Objectives

The student will be able to apply the methods of contemporary art education in northern and Arctic sociocultural contexts and situations.

Content

The course will introduce the potential of the new genre Arctic art strategy in the context of art's practical and educational applications in the northern and Arctic regions. The acquired knowledge will be applied in the planning and implementation of a field workshop.

Implementation and Methods

Hybrid teaching: Participation in the implementation of the field workshop as a team (Nomadic Hub of Arctic Art Education) fieldwork part is arranged on selected location on-site collecting all together, some of the planning and reflection organized advance and after the field workshop online.

Student workload

Active participation in online planning meetings, preparations of the workshops independently and together onsite. Participating in planning, conducting and reflecting workshops and artistic practices onsite.

Further information

The course is intended for MA students, but it can also be suitable for postgraduate students with adjustments in terms of requirements and literature.
