Objective

The aim of the course is to advance your grammar skills and your reading comprehension. You will study structures essential to text comprehension and writing factual texts.

Having completed the course you will
1) understand the main points of texts dealing with everyday issues
2) know rather well the salient structures of basic grammar
3) be able to advance your Finnish skills without tuition
4) have the opportunity to achieve the level B1.1 of the six-level CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Execution methods

Group meetings 36 hours and independent work 45 hours. To complete the course you have to actively participate in the exercises, complete your assignments and work independently on what you have learned.

Accomplishment methods

Regular attendance (80%) in group meetings, active participation in the exercises, and completing the individual and group assignments. Final exam.

Content

Studying the structures of basic grammar, expanding your vocabulary, and reading various types of text.

Finnish for Foreigners 1–4 or corresponding skills (language skill level A2.1–A2.2).
